Weight Loss Books

You answered:
" I think that if I could find the right diet I would be able to lose weight."
"I usually read a book about a new diet before I try it."

Here's what you should know:

You need some help

woman looking at a book
  • You've had a lot of problems with your weight. It hasn't been easy for you.
  • And it's not for lack of trying.
  • You've worked hard at losing weight. You've tried to find out what you should be doing. You've read weight loss books. But still you haven't been successful.
  • There are several things that you are running into.

Your body is working against you

First, your body is very good at storing fat. Unfortunately that's just the way it is. It's true -- some people can eat all they want and not gain weight.

And some people gain weight very easily -- and that's you.

So what does that mean? Does it mean that it's impossible for you to lose weight? No. Definitely not.

You really can succeed

But to be successful at anything you have to figure out what it's really going to take. And you need to get yourself some tools to help you.

See, you've got to really look at it -- how much work will it take?

And it's going to be harder for you than for some other people. So, that's just the way it is. No use ignoring the fact.

Here's the attitude you've got to have: "OK. So it's not going to be super easy for me. I am not a naturally skinny person. BUT...I CAN do it. I CAN lose the weight. I just need to figure out what needs to be done. And then I need to do it. It's that simple."

Should you try another diet?

Second, you're using a "solution" for your weight problem already. But what you've come up with as a solution isn't really solving your problem.

Here's what I mean: What do you think of when you want to lose weight? You think of dieting.

And so you get yourself the latest weight loss books and you read them. And then you follow the advice...or at least you do your best to follow it. And one way or the other it doesn't work out the way you would like.

Sometimes you lose weight and gain it back. And sometimes you hardly lose any weight at all.

Half truths and lies

Here's what you are running into. Most of what you read in weight loss books is either incomplete or totally false.

By incomplete I mean that it might have some truth in it. But it's not everything that YOU need to do. So it doesn't work too well.

By totally false I mean that it is just pure nonsense. Pick almost any popular book on weight loss. There is a very good chance it is nonsense. Why?

Because when you are overweight it is hard to face the facts. It's unpleasant.

And it is hard to face the truth about what you have to do to lose weight. Because it's not easy.

See, "not easy" doesn't sell books. What does sell weight loss books? Two things: fast and easy. Fast weight loss. Easy weight loss.

Why wouldn't it? You want fast and easy weight loss, right?

But look where you are now. Overweight and unhappy about it.

The solution to your problem

So get it out of your head that you just need a new "diet." Another diet won't solve your problem.

But there is a solution. It starts with reeducating yourself on what really works. On the elements of a successful weight loss program. And figuring out which of those things you can do and you will do.

And then making a plan for yourself. And then following that plan.

Keeping track of your progress. And fine tuning your program as you go.

And if you do, you really can lose weight and be happy with the way you feel and the way you look. Give it a try.
