Atkins Works But IS NOT Easy

I have always been big since I was a child. I had tried numerous diets that did not work and I had come to a conclusion that I was just destined to be huge.
I was around 450 pounds at the time and while I never wanted to be thin I just wanted to lose at least 100 pounds.
In 2005 I moved into a new apartment and soon after that I started to gain more weight. I did not have a lot of time to cook so I was eating TV dinners and instant noodles a lot of the time.
My roommate is not small but she started to make these comments to me about how I "really puffed up" and my thighs "looked like material." I decided then to try something else.
I had heard about Atkins but I didn't think it would really work. I decided to try it because seriously I had nothing to lose.
I ate bacon and eggs for breakfast, grilled chicken with lettuce for lunch, and I had steak or pork chops and veggies for dinner.
The first couple of weeks I thought I would die. I missed breads, rice, and potatoes a lot. I got used to it after a while.
About a month or two in I quit. I went back to eating carbs and some of the 35 pounds I had lost came back.
I ended up going on and off Atkins for the past 4 years. More on than off.
I am now 321 pounds. I am glad I am smaller but I still want to lose more.
Atkins really works but it is very hard to stick to. I am looking for another way to lose weight without killing myself with the temptation of carbs.

Johnresa,
I find your story very touching. I can see how difficult it has been for you.
The Atkins diet is very difficult to stay with for a prolonged time. This has been shown in a number of research studies. It may be acceptable for someone that has just a few pounds to lose, but it will never work for you.
I can see that you are missing some vital information that is keeping you from getting to a healthy weight. You should really get a copy of my book, Dr. Dan's Super Weight Loss Plan.
It will show you how to take off those dangerous pounds in a way that you can actually live with.
