Workout Through Ballroom Or Latin Dancing

by Clara
(Netherlands)

My favourite workout is dancing, ballroom or Latin, it doesn’t matter to me.

The most I ever danced was the last two years every Thursday from 19:00 till 20:30 and on Friday from 18:15 till 23:00 hours. And once in the two weeks I also dance on a Saturday from 20:00 till 23:00 hours.

I started with dancing when I was about 17 years old and got the tip from another student at high school. Because sports aren’t really my thing I had been searching for a way that fitted me to work on my condition because it wasn’t great.

The workout on Thursday and Friday were my own lessons and lessons where I assisted less qualified dancers. On Saturday it was the open evenings at the dance school.

The difficulty for me was that I wanted to keep learning so I wanted to dance a lot of time. The teachers didn’t push you but they did want to help you to learn the right steps.

Both physically and mentally I felt great when I was dancing or had just finished.

The dance classes were taught by a couple and sometimes higher qualified students helped out with the teaching. In total I have danced for about 5 years and unfortunately I had to stop because of studying at university.

At this moment I sometimes still will practice, just at home or at weddings etc. If I got the opportunity I would take lessons again.

I will advise this especially to people who want to work out but aren’t that sporty. Maybe you can go to an open evening or something at a local dance class.

Have great fun!
