Motivation For Weight Loss --
Try Being Nice To Yourself

Are you nice to yourself?

You look in the mirror. You don't like the way your hips and thighs look. So you say to yourself, "Ughh. I look awful. Disgusting. I'm so fat!"

Well, it's time to stop that. It's not OK. It's not fair to you. It's not right. It's mean.

You have to stop being mean to yourself.

You've heard this haven't you?:

"Sticks and stones can break my bones
But words will never hurt me."

It's just not true.

He who laughs, lasts.

Mary Pettibone Poole (c. 1938)

Words do hurt

Words can cause a lot of damage. Words can tear you down. They can make you feel bad about yourself.

But words can also build you up. You need motivation for weight loss. And you need building up.

So the time to start is right now. No more being mean to yourself.

You don't like your thighs? Fine. But what do you like about yourself? Maybe it's your eyes. Or your hands. Or your hair.

Say to yourself -- "I look nice today"

So when you look in the mirror you don't say, "I look awful." Instead, put on your best smile and say, "My hair looks good today. My eyes look good today. And I look good today!"

Oh. And when you say it, mean it.

You don't mean it? Well, then change your mind. It's the easiest thing to do there is.
