Iowa Machine Shed

I ate lunch at the Urbandale, IA location a few years back. I ordered what was called "lighter chores".

Either I did not read the fine print or I was clueless as to how the Machine Shed serves you food.

Instead of getting a small meal, I got a five-course meal consisting of huge sides. The atmosphere reminded me of a greasy spoon.

I have tried to warn others not to go to that restaurant but to no avail. Iowans just like to be fat, I guess.

Ahhh... The Iowa Machine Shed, a small chain of restaurants in the heart of America, where they apparently haven't heard about the war on cholesterol.

You can choose from Grilled Pork Chop Sandwich topped with bacon and double-cut Swiss cheese...

Or Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, freshly battered then deep-fried...

Or if you just need a snack, how about the Shed Burger -- two (yes, that's two) half pound Certified Angus Beef patties with cheese and onion rings.

One thing is for sure. You will not leave hungry.
