How can I drop one or two jean sizes in a short amount of time?

by Karina
(Pennsylvania)

I'm 13 years old, 5'3, and I'm extremely active doing competitive and intense sports every day of the week for over 2 hours. I eat 2 meals a day on non school days and 3 meals a day on school days. I do eat snacks sometimes.

On a good day, I'm around 89 pounds. On a bad one, I can be up to 92.

Well, when I was shopping for jeans today, trying them on in the dressing room, my usual size 0 was a little tight. This made me worried and I left the store, buying the size 0 jeans.

My mom insists that it's "okay" to wear a size 1 but it's NOT to me. I went online to read about how much I should weigh and what size I should be and it scared me. Girls my age and height were size 00 and 0.

I have no idea what to do now. I feel overweight and scared and I'm really nervous being that school is starting in a few days.

Please help me! How can I drop a jean size or two in a few weeks or months? Thanks.

Size 1 not good enough
by: Sandy

When I was 13 I wanted to be accepted. I didn't want people looking at me and talking about me in a negative way. I wanted to be cool. I wanted to fit in.

And like you I thought adults didn't understand me. I thought they just couldn't see that if I were "perfect" I would have more friends and even more people admiring me.

All I can tell you is that one day you'll see that it isn't as important how you look as it is how you make others feel. Do your friends feel important? Do your friends make you feel important?

Would you stop being a friend with someone overweight? with someone who looks different than you? with someone that others laugh at? Look deep and answer these questions.

And then, just for once be honest with yourself. Are you surrounded with friends who really like you for who you are? Do you ever get the impression that some of your friends are competing with you? Each thing you get they want.
And they never give you sincere compliments about what you've accomplished.

I know you asked how you can drop two jean sizes in a short amount of time? But the real question is how happy you are and if you feel appreciated for being who you are.

If deep down you're not happy then find someone who you feel really loves you and carve out some time to sit with them and share your feelings, thoughts and dreams. Ask them for encouraging words. Tell them you want to be more than what your size is or what you look like.

You are more than that. You are a human being. You are perfect as you are.

I'm hoping you will seek love and kindness. I'm hoping you will learn how to be more loving and kind. I'm hoping you'll begin showing love and kindness to "yourself" just the way you are.
